The simple present tense is the verb tense used to express actions, events and situations that are permanent.

Andrew lives in Scotland.
I Work in a shop.
Peter is very tall.

This tense is also used to express habitual actions that happen regularly or all the time.

I take the train to work everyday.
I buy a magazine every week.
